Mobile phone which is ruling the world today has gone through various modifications over the years. From world’s first mobile which was the size of the dustbin lid to devices small enough that can be slipped inside the pocket. I being a gadget freak was always interested to know about the latest which is launched into the market. In addition I have always had fascination for stylish stuffs. Samsung has introduced a model which has come up to my expectations.
The model named SCH-C210 also called ultra-edition 5.9 is said to be world’s slimmest phone to date. The model is only 5.9 mm thin, 115 mm long and 48.3 mm wide. It is easy to handle and very comfortable to hold as it weighs only 56g. It is built using magnesium and fiber glass reinforced plastic materials which has enhanced its durability. So you need not have a nagging feeling that somebody would sit on your ultra edition phone and break it into two:-D. As for its appearance, Samsung SCH-C210 manages to look elegant in an unusual way.
In addition to its stylish look the phone features Power Usage Solution (OPUS), which increases possible talk time by 10%, power saving by 30% and battery capacity by 10%. Moreover, it is equipped with a 3MP camera, a 1.93” color TFT screen and can play music up to 11 hours. Like any other latest mobiles it has Bluetooth connectivity, an electronic dictionary, MP3 playback and it permits you to transfer data with the PC via USB. So I can guarantee that all slim-phone lovers like me will find Samsung SCH-C210 impossible to resist.
The uniqueness :
Slimmest of all the mobiles ever seen.
The rating:

On the whole this mobile cannot compete the better mobiles except that it is slim.

Land Rover SUVs are the toughest cars on the planet. Now Land Rover has decided to enter the cell phone market. They together with phone manufacturer Sonim are able to build a phone which they call “World’s toughest phone”. What they said is indeed true. Their new phone S1 mobile has survived the elephant stampede, was run over by Land Rover itself, dunked in the mud, and soaked in beer, 300-degree Centigrade of oven heat and being fallen from a tall building. The only test in which it did not survive was being crushed by a three ton forklift truck, which is pretty above and beyond the duty of any phone we’d normally use. But still as a phone it is very strong.
The Land Rover S1 is touted to be the world’s first IP-67 rated GSM mobile, making it immune to dust as well as being waterproof up to 1m. In addition, you can throw the S1 around without much care since it is dirt, shock and drop resistant, capable of handling up to 400kgs of pressure before breaking. The handset comes in sort of a pre-owned state, and we mean that in a good way. The unit will survive drops of up to two meters onto hard surfaces, and more than 2,000 vibrations in the 500Hz range. And it can operate in temperatures from –4ºF (-20ºC) to 131ºF (55ºC).
After all, buttons on the Land Rover S1 has undergone tests of over 500,000 pushes before being approved, while the battery offers a phenomenal standby time of 1,500 hours as well as 18 hours of talk time. Other features include a 2-megapixel waterproof camera, built-in GPS, torch light, an integrated FM radio, 2GB memory slot, WAP browser and Bluetooth connectivity. At $490 a pop, it is surprisingly cheap considering the amount of punishment it can take. There’s also a three-year unconditional guarantee.
But the software and capabilities are Stone Age. It does not allow you to down transfer media file to your PC. And also this phone is not very user friendly. The only real question is: where can you subject a phone to these sorts of conditions and still expect to get a signal? Land Rover claims its phone is perfectly suited to the adventurous outdoor spirit of its customers but, luckily, there are plenty of features for those who never actually get off-road.
The uniqueness:
As you can see there can never be a phone that can withstand all these very tough physical shots on the mobile. Obviously, the one and only uniqueness that can be seen visually is its hardness, toughness and the amazing fiber that has been used to make this toughest phone.
The rating:
We generally run to the service center without switching it on when you drop the mobile in water. But, this can withstand even alcohol. The phone breaks when we sit on it, but this can withstand 2 ton SUV. Amazing phone gets an amazing 10 on 10.

Adding on to the already seen weird mobile designs is Toshiba’s G450. Why is a cell phone designed to not resemble a cell phone? Maybe to give that “whao” feeling. But what if it doesn’t even serve its purpose…. then all attempts in vain like this model.
The tri-band HSDPA G450 is a small, rounded lozenge of a mobile measuring just 98mm tall, 36mm wide and 16mm thick. It is one of the lightest mobiles weighing 57g. The front fascia comprises of three circles. The top one is the display which resembles a watch dial. Instead of a keyboard, the Toshiba G450 has two circular multifunction pads. This design resembles an mp3 player.
The biggest compromise is the display – the 0.8″ 96 x 39 pixel panel. This is probably too tiny for anything other than basic handset operations and the multimedia player. There are only three lines for display where the first line is usually taken for status information. This will need you to scroll to read any message of more than about six to seven words. So this is certainly never going to be any use for web browsing.
The next big minus of ToshibaG450 is its bizarre split-into-two keypads. The two circles separate the number keys in a most unfriendly way. The 1 to 6 keys are in the upper circle, with 7-9, 0 and the * and # keys in the bottom circle. The positioning of the keys mean that it will take a while to get used to both number dialing and texting. Further the shape of the mobile makes it very difficult to handle.
One of the primary design goals for the Toshiba G450 was to act as a modem. It can be connected to the laptop using a USB cable. Apart from MP3s and the alarm clock, the Toshiba G450 doesn’t really do anything else. You can make calls, send texts and manage your contacts list too…. but really you wouldn’t want to try doing anything else on the G450’s tiny screen.
The uniqueness:
The mobile is really weird especially when we look at the keypad is so similar to the display which shows that this phone should be really weird. I still wonder how people got this phone from the retail.
The rating:
We discussed about a similar bad design phone from Nokia. But, i think this Toshiba G450’s tiny screen and a very weird keypad can give this a just abyssmal 1.

Anything new and unusual will grab attention. Manufacturers are often interested in introducing products with new designs (which turnout to be weird) which might get that attention. Sometimes it works fine for them but often it backfires by demanding certain tradeoffs. It is the same case even in cell phone design.
Nokia 7380 which is considered as one of the world’s worst cell phone design is a perfect example for it. This long thin phone with mirror design and floral patterns was launched aiming the female fashion market. Though this is the first model which introduced “Navi Spinner” — a kind of scroll wheel that enabled “keyless dialing” with various degrees of success some of its features make it very difficult to handle.
Nokia 7380 is a bar of 114 x 30 x 20 mm. It weighs 80 g. In other words, it’s a very small and light phone. Its construction is solid and stable. The phone is made of high quality plastic materials. It looks like a chocolate bar with a small mirror instead of display and a scroll wheel instead of keypad. The device has a fabric logo attached to its side. It resembles the one on luxury T-shirts.
The phone’s display area is very small and it is operated in landscape mode which makes it further difficult to operate. You will have to tilt the phone to 90 degrees or do a little bit of neck exercise. The mirror might be useful for a quick style check but it reduces the visibility of the phone under direct sun light. Further, after using the phone all the finger prints left are so obvious.
The other major complaint of Nokia 7380 is the absence of keypad. If you are a person who is so into text messaging then using this phone would be a nightmare for you. All operations are done using its scroll control. If you are a left hander then think twice as the scroll control is at the right side of the display which doubles the trouble. Though Nokia 7380 is very slim and stylish it may not be the first option among various other mobiles which are user friendly.
The uniqueness:
We call it a worst design phone, then i don’t think anything in this phone. May be, there can be some uniqueness shown by the slide jog in the phone that is a new and innovative but a failure model of navigation.
Th
e rating:
I should give a terrible 3 for this phone. If i give more than that it is not fair calling this mobile a worst cell phone design. But, there should be some mishaps though Nokia has a great probability towards creating the best phones.

Jazz is an American musical art form of popular music. Its origins are in the beginning of the 20th century in African American communities in the Southern United States from a wide range of African and European music traditions. It spans from Ragtime waltzes to 2000s-era fusion. e states that it is music that includes qualities such as “swinging’, improvising, group interaction, developing an ‘individual voice’, and being ‘open’ to different musical possibilities

We have already seen about one of the world’s most expensive mobile. Here is another. One pear-cut diamond, one round white diamond, two emerald eyes and 439 rubies…..this may sound like a masterpiece jewel. But this time it’s a cobra on a mobile phone.
It is the luxurious VERTU Signature Cobra, designed by French jeweler Boucheron which is priced at $310,000 (£167,567). VERTU will also be offering a “cheaper” version, ruby free, at $115,000 (£62,162) for those who can’t afford the original version. The VERTU Signature Cobra phone is plated with 18 Carat Gold and uses high-quality ceramic-technology which makes it up to four times as durable as other phones.
The VERTU Signature Cobra copy is equipped with a 262k true color TFT display, and has no digital camera, GPRS/WAP capability and can also be used both as MP3 music and a MP4 video player. This exclusive VERTU Cobra phone is delivered in a high-quality gift box, including two batteries, a stereo headset, a USB cable, a charging unit and a user manual. However in comparison with the other phones in the market, the absence of digital camera is a big minus.
This phone doesn’t make a big impression to savvy, intelligent, and bargain shopper. It’s a phone marketed to those who love the bling lifestyle. The Signature Cobra, as one might observe, is merely a regular phone laced with expensive rocks. It’s the equivalent of crystallizing an apple or some other fruit. A once ordinary object is now engulfed with shinny specs of light which glitter from every angle.
VERTU, is now taking orders which are currently limited to 8, but only 26 Signature Cobras will be made for the lucky few who make that decision. Although the price is high, signature cobra is evaluated to be on the world’s ugliest mobile phone list. The consumer of most reason won’t put them into shopping detailed list as the function of mobile phone itself does not have any promotion.
The uniqueness:
The phone is so slick and chic. It is very compact and unlike other expensive phones this has some real value and meaning for being a phone like the MP3 and MP4 players, etc. The unique cobra filled with the precious richness is anohter highlighting aspect of this phone.
The rating:

I can surely give a 10 for this phone for accomplishing the purpose of being the Richie Rich’s phone as well having the services that a normal Nokia 1100 has.

CDMA – Coded Division Multiple Access is the actual expansion. You will be even using it, you would have called your kith and kin and would have spoke for hours. You might have even wondered how only your mobile have better signal than your friend’s mobile. Do you know why that happens? Then you will get all possible answers here. I am not going to say anything much deeper and technical in the first article but something you need and something that can make you do justice for the phone you use.
Let us rhapsodize by learning the history of CDMA phones. The CDMA technology was named as the Interim Standard which is shortly called as the IS models. There are different advancement in the technology like the Qualcomm (which is the God of mobile communication, their labs have devised so many advancements in mobile communication out of which the IS was one of them) IS – 95 and IS – 135 and the latest IS – 2000.
Now, to be more simple and to tell the concept of CDMA without any technical content is impossible, so though there will be a little amount of technicality added to it you will be able to understand it. We all know that our mobile need to emit signals so as to communicate with other mobiles. So, now each user will have a particular frequency (consider frequency as a road in which your car runs, and if there is only 15 roads, then only fifteen cars can be driven which means only 15 users can utilize). In the same way to increase the total number of users in CDMA we use special codes (called spreaded PN sequence) that can allocate many number of people.
Taking the same road example, now i divide each road into 50 lanes and each lane has a code, now there can be 15×50 cars which is equal to 750 users and that’s CDMA.
You have much more to know about the mostly used and mostly unknown CDMA technology – stay tuned.

Sales records typically don’t stand for too long without being overtaken by the next best thing, but somehow, Nokia’s 1100 handset has reportedly racked up “over 200 million sales” since it launched in 2003. Small, simple, durable and cheap no wonder this phone is world’s best selling.
The Nokia 1100 is an entry level phone, targeted at low budget consumers. It is a small phone measuring 106×46x20 mm and weighing only 86 grams. The phone has got a nice silicon keypad, which looks good on the phone. The keypad is very easy to use especially for people with larger finger. The keypad plus its anti-slip sides makes it very comfortable to handle. Clearly it’s the most preferred option for those who are into so much of text messaging.
It has a black and white with a resolution of 96 x 65 pixels and shows a maximum of 4 lines at once, just like the other entry level Nokia phones. It is also a Dual Band phone with built in flash light. The phone comes with a BL-5C battery which has excellent backup. When fully charged the battery gives a continuous talk time of 7 hours and 13 minutes. The phone takes 1 hour 32 minutes to charge completely, which is very less compared to most other phones.
Its other features are vibration alert, automatic keypad lock, etc. In addition to flash light Nokia 1100 offers other applications like Predictive Text input (T9), Alarm clock, Reminders, Stopwatch and Countdown Timer. Its excellent durability makes it withstand anger discharges, uncountable stair fallings, thousands of coke, water, etc. It’s the only phone which would not be affected even after being run over by your car:-D
These days’ phones have gone from being phones to everything else. If you’re looking for something to make/receive calls and text messaging then this IS the phone. Add the fact that it is not only cheap but tough and you’ve obviously got a winner.
The uniqueness:
This mobile is not unique in any of its technical aspects. But, i want to appreciate the uniqueness of the Nokia who have rendered a new revolution in the mobile phone designs there by creating a Nokia 1100.
The rating:
I should surely give a solid 10 for 1100 which has hit the Guinness world records for being the worlds most used phone.

We all would have dreamt of a phone which can work as a standalone mobile device and fit into different jackets that can make them act as a messaging device, a music player, a gaming device or into gadgets that can connect us to internet. Modu Mobile, an Israel-based company has developed the world’s smallest mobile phone that has made our dream come true.
Weighing just 40.1g at 72mm x 37mm x 7.8mm, the Guinness Book of World Records has named the Modu mini phone “the lightest mobile phone in the world.” The Modu phone can be used as a standalone device or it can also be slotted into different cases or even into other specially developed technology. Modu starts with a tiny handset, which is the lightest phone in the world. In spite of its small dimensions, the phone does everything that a sophisticated cell phone does. It is tiny, but it is the right size to make it functional, to make you be able to dial numbers.
It has a small color screen and a limited keypad, which allows it to work as a rudimentary cell phone on its own. The jackets that will come with the Modu look like cell phones, with standard numeric keypads and other features like cameras. But they lack the antenna and chips that communicate with a wireless network. This is where Modu comes in – it pops into a slot, turning the jacket into a fully functional phone.
Some features of Modu are Ability to send/receive SMS, Speaker, Bluetooth, MP3 Player, Minimum 1GB of storage, Can act as mass storage USB Flash Drive. These cell phones are more like fashion, tempting the consumer to update their looks every few months. The jacket is cheap to make, has almost no electronics, and doesn’t need to be tested to see that it conforms to its network standards. In addition to its brilliant technology, this concept device claims to be user-friendly. So Modu is surely for all those who expect an “all in one” device.
The uniqueness:
Though is is the lightest phone in the world, people can never have a myth that all small phones, light phones will not anything else in the mobile except talking from it. But, Modi mobile has 10 already bet everything and had got not only because of your unique light weight but the phone charge are same.
The rating:
I should definitely give a complete flawless 10 and never hesitate to praise its uage just like the latest mobile.

Newer the day, newer is the mobile phone model is the buzzword today. Owning the most expensive and most stylish mobile phone is a status symbol among teenagers. The fashion sector is demanding and their stylish life is ensuring to match their phones with fashion. There is no doubt that the mobile phones are representing fashion statement. Here is one such stylish mobile phone.
The PENCK phone designed by Makoto Saito is one and a half years old, but it’s still the most beautiful and stylish phone ever made. PENCK has a body so soft and curved, you will find it hard to resist touching it. With an internal antenna, no sub display and with the buttons and camera contained within the body, the handset contains no corners and fits snugly inside your purse or pocket.
Combined with its one of a kind form, highest level coating technologies give PENCK both a striking and unique appearance never seen before in a mobile handset. For the sake of external appearance and color balance, the charging terminals are coated with a silver-grey metal rhodium instead of the usual gold. The PENCK is available in three colors, metal, milk (white), and bitter (black).
It weighs 134g with a screen resolution of 57 x 98 × 28mm. The handset instantly becomes a music player when you attach the included white stereo earphones. Stereo speakers that produce clear authentic sound quality are installed in the handset. It has a built in 1.24 mega pixel CCD camera with barcode function. The startup, menu and standby screens are all created using designs that complement the handset design to create a unified and sophisticated feel. It has a miniSD memory slot and talk time of 210 minutes.
The metal feel particularly catches everybody’s attention. Being simple and unique, PENCK is something which people will never get tired of. But very sad that this pretty phone is currently available only in Japan.
The uniqeness:
When you look at the photo you can say that the phone is obviously unique for its amazing finish and metallic body. The phone looks amazingly awesome when it is closed and it loks normal like any other phone when it is flipped open.
The rating:
Just as i mentioned, the phone is not that good at the technical aspects. It could have been much better when you compare with today’s technology. And in addition to that the phone frame and body looks like Moto Pebl, but Pebl is of better technical value. But, i should admit that this is the most stylish phone in the world. I can give a 8.
